Imperial College London Primary Care

On 12 June 2014, we hosted the Annual NHS GP Teachers Conference at the Department of Primary Care & Public Health at Imperial College London. Our NHS colleagues teach our medical students essential skills in clinical medicine and in how to treat patients holistically rather than just as a symptom, sign or disease. We had a number of excellent presentations from our academic staff, NHS teachers and from our medical students.

On 11 June 2015, my department hosted a visit from undergraduate students from the East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, USA. We had a discussion about the health systems in the USA and UK, and how the two countries address their respective public health priorities. The visit was led by Professor Karen Vail-Smith and Professor Don Chaney from the Department of Health Education and Promotion at East Carolina University.
